thanksgiving trip

This Thanksgiving, I got to see my grandparents on my mom’s side. I haven’t seen them for 10+ years. Alex & I drove the 4.5 hours south to their house on Thursday. I saw my two uncles as well.

It was so nice! We got up early & tried to eat breakfast somewhere before we started the trip. Butttt we failed to find anywhere open–because it was Thanksgiving, duh. I made sure that my car was nice & empty when we went because my grandma, who I call Momo, told me that she had put together a couple of boxes of stuff for me. (Eeeek!!)

We ate as soon as we got there. There was so much foooddd. It was delicious & we all visited for 8 hours! Then my uncles left & we all went to bed.

My Popo (grandpa) is a famous flapjack flipper (inside family joke) so he made us pancakes & eggs & bacon in the morning. Score!! Breakfast is my favorite. & that’s like TWO Thanksgivings, right?! Then Momo & I went through some more stuff in her house & we packed it away for us to take home. She gave me decorations for the 4th of July and Christmas. She even let me pick out a quilt! & of course we got lots of leftovers too! Yuummmmm.

After we visited some more, we packed up & started the drive home. The drive was longer in the way back than it was on the way there, but that’s okay. We unpacked the stuffed car when we got home & then I got to go through the boxes!

She packed me everything!

  • 7 pillowcases
  • 4 doilies
  • 2 Christmas placemats
  • Crocheted blanket
  • Huge quilt
  • 5/6 hand towels
  • A pillow
  • A Christmas table runner
  • 2 vases
  • 2 different sets of 4 crystal coffee cups
  • Candlesticks
  • Santa wall decorations
  • Big angel figurine
  • Two Santa figurines
  • Santa stuffed animal
  • A mini lit Christmas tree
  • Pumpkin plate
  • 3 big glass mixing bowls
  • 3 regular bowls
  • Set of 2 crystal wine glasses
  • 2 bundt cake pans
  • Tupperware
  • 6 Corning ware sets w/ glass lids
  • 2 pots & pans
  • A spice rack w/ bottles
  • Homemade jam
  • Knives
  • A standing outside sign
  • Some Christmas lights
  • Napkin holder
  • Plant pots
  • A box full of 4th of July decorations
  • A big glass candle holder
  • 2 giant crystal glasses/case things
  • 2 PLANTS!

& that’s just what I remember off the top of my head..there’s more! I know right, crazinessss! I really really love most of the stuff she sent home with me. I couldn’t believe how much she packed up. It was especially cool because I hadn’t seen her in so long. But now that we live in the same state, we’ll definitely be making that trip again soon! I’m not waiting another 10+ years, that’s for sure!

I already decorated the house with the stuff she gave us & then we went out & bought some Christmas lights! Ah! It’s even more exciting when you can decorate your own home for the holidays.

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving & that you got to spend it with people that you love. Thankful that I did.
